As I traced the familiar contours and colors of the Shiva temple rising from the Canyon's depths, I thought back to the family vacation I had taken the previous month, where everything had finally begun.
The sun was starting to set, and the clouds above were all pink and wonder. I wanted to catch at least a glimpse of the Canyon before dark. I didn't have much time.
So, I started running.
The heat was quickly becoming intolerable. Within the hour even the squirrel thieves were gone, hiding from the sun's brutal oppression. I wondered where they hid, that I might hide with them.
It didn't take long for my journey to be vindicated by the hand of Fate- an integral encounter was already manifesting just four and a half hours down my timeline, eagerly awaiting my arrival.
